astrology... again

I’m always amazed that libraries exist. I love books. I love reading. I love reading books for free! I also love places where everyone agrees to follow specific rules, like the Southwest Airlines boarding policy, at concerts where everyone sits instead of stands, and whispering in a library. And the quiet part is especially soothing: You walk in off a busy street into hushed human decency. Plus I get to hang out with other people without being overstimulated... an introvert’s dream!

I tend to get overly ambitious when browsing the shelves and walk out with 5 or 6 titles when I know I’ll probably only read part of one. I’m a fast reader, but I’m really used to reading on my kindle, which I do every night before I fall asleep. Reading non-fiction before bed usually gets me too wired, and sitting down in the middle of the day with a textbook (like I’m trying to do right now but procrastinating by writing this) gets pushed below the other, more mundane things I have to do instead.

But, I am here. With 3 new books, 1 of which is a GIANT textbook on astrology. As I’ve mentioned here before, my interest in astrology goes way back to childhood. I’ve always been fascinated by the stars and planets. I can remember those glorious days of Starlab in elementary school, where we’d climb through a small hole into a large, inflatable planetarium in our cafeteria. Or when I got to go the actual planetarium at the Science Center in Pittsburgh... the reclining seats, the soothing narrator, the reference to “celestial bodies.” It was all so magical.

I’m also a sucker for anything that seeks to describe me as a person. It’s a way to understand myself, to make sense of my emotions, tendencies, reactions, etc. It helps me be more self-aware, to use my strengths for good, and to be able to move beyond my less than desirable traits.

I’ve never really taken my level of study beyond a few pages deep on a website, but I’m hoping to deepen my knowledge and be able to add this as a character-typing tool with my coaching clients. We talk about other personality and motivation style tests, and this is the most ancient form. It’s another way to deepen your relationship with yourself, and I’m excited to be able to help others use their own zodiac placements to move them forward.

And honestly, I’m also really looking forward to telling everyone I meet something about their sign and exclaiming things like “THERE’S A TRINE (TRY-een) TODAY!!” Get excited. 🔮
